Hi guys! Are you ready for some spookier content on my blog? I feel like I want to take a more personal approach with this space than I have before, so I’m sorry if I babble a little in the next few posts as I figure it all out. I often feel like I’m just throwing things against the wall and seeing what will work. Like these photos - they’re self portraits, and I love the way the makeup looked that day!
I actually had a different look on when I first started taking photos, but you know how if your makeup is too light, it doesn’t look great in your photos? That’s exactly what happened to me. So I feel like I really had to layer on some pigment for this look! But I like it. It’s dark and sultry and perfect for fall.
I feel like October is the time when I get to really let out my creative dark side. I usually try to hide it from others throughout the rest of the year. I don’t think it was ever an intentional shift, just one that happened as I got older. Looking back on more older work that I have stored on my external hard drives, I’m almost shocked at how much darker my day to day looks and art were.
I feel like I’ve had to shift my entire thinking about creating content. This is art. This is storytelling. I am in the photos, but I don’t often think of it as me in these pictures. It’s like it’s someone else. I don’t know if that makes any sense, or if you can relate.
I transformed my house for the day getting these shots. It’s exhausting, but hopefully rewarding. I’ll have more photos next week. I need to film my next painting first, though. Have you seen the last one? It’s Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas! I don’t know why, but I just had this calling to paint him to have a new decoration for the holidays.
Anyway! I hope you enjoyed this look. If you have any questions about products used, please send me a message and I’d be happy to help.
What’s a makeup look I should try next? Let me know in the comments below!
